Events Organisers
If you are organising any event, please send details of The Title, Venue, Dates and Times, along with any other information that may be relevant as far in advance as possible. In particular, items such as table prices, whether a display is being organised, raffles, auctions & refreshments are always relevant.
It is also helpful if you can state where the nearest railway station is located and what transport if any passes the venue.
Do you have parking problems or do you have unlimited parking? All these sorts of queries are important, especially for overseas visitors (both into the UK and the UK to abroad).
Currently, I have pages prepared for the years 2008 and 2009. However, if you have any events - especially historical events - that go beyond the two years stated above, please send those details as well. It takes but a short while to prepare new pages.
Any errors or amendments should be notified as soon as possible so that I can get them uploaded to the appropriate entry in adequate time for potential visitors.
Events Visitors
If you are considering travelling to any of the venues listed on these pages, you should before you travel undertake the following simple checks:
Check times and venue with the organisers immediately prior to any journey - especially if the journey is a long one. If you are travelling by train, ensure that there are no rail works happening on the day you are travelling. This is particularly important if the venue is on a Sunday.
Ensure you give yourself plenty of time to travel to the venue - Travel the day before if you feel that the journey will be too long. Consider fellow collectors in your area especially if you are travelling alone. Costs can be greatly reduced when shared.
If your journey is a lengthy one, ensure you take adequate breaks, as a tired driver is a dangerous driver.
Make sure before you start out that mechanically your car is sound to undertake the journey and for safety, make sure that you have adequate identification on you. If you have allergies or are being treated for an illness, make sure you have the medication you need for the journey.
Make sure family/friends know that you are going to a meet - especially if you intend to be away for more than a day.
If you intend to bring young children with you, ensure that you have adequate toys/paper/pencils/games for them to enjoy whilst you enjoy your event.
Make sure you have somewhere secure to put any valuable labels that you may be taking with you and make adequate provision to ensure that any displays you partake in have good security arrangements. Whilst you may as honest as the day is long - unfortunately it has all to often been proved that some visitors aren’t!!!
Do not leave valuables unattended when you are at the venue.
